Elbow Pain & Tennis Elbow

Elbow pain can severely disrupt everyday activities and hinder hand functionality. It often results in a weakened grip, making it difficult to hold objects and causing reduced productivity in certain professions. Manual workers and individuals who participate in racket or stick sports such as tennis, badminton, golf, and hockey are especially prone to experiencing elbow pain.

There are various types of elbow pain, including tennis elbow (lateral epicondylitis), golfers elbow (medial epicondylitis), entrapped nerves, arthritis, and other bone and joint issues. Most cases of elbow pain present as slow and progressive injuries, typically described as a deep, dull ache with limited joint movement. Some individuals may also experience pain radiating into the wrist or hand.

At New Body Clinic, we frequently encounter the following causes of elbow pain:

- Overuse injuries (manual labor)

- Sustained micro trauma (sports like baseball, tennis, golf)

- Poor posture

- Inflammatory conditions (arthritis)

In many cases, elbow pain is mechanical in nature and stems from poor posture or structural alignment. When serious underlying conditions have been ruled out, addressing the root cause of elbow pain becomes crucial. Elbow problems often arise from improper body posture, which places excess pressure and tension on the elbow. Multiple muscles surrounding the elbow joint are connected to the shoulder and upper body, as are the nerves that supply the elbow region from the neck. Misalignment in the neck and upper body can strain the soft tissues and nerves, leading to referred pain in the elbow.

When seeking relief from elbow pain, there are two approaches individuals commonly take:

1. Treating the pain and symptoms:

Using medication and other therapies solely focused on reducing symptoms may provide temporary relief but fail to address the underlying problem, which is often related to spinal alignment. This short-term solution may lead to an ongoing need for medication and reduced mobility as one ages.

2. Correcting the cause of the problem:

Imagine identifying the source of your elbow pain and resolving it. Our Advanced Bio-Structural Correction™ (ABC™) therapy is a hands-on approach that corrects spinal alignment and posture. By considering the body as a whole and not just individual parts, ABC™ aims to address the root cause of body issues and prevent future problems from arising. Correcting structural alignment helps relieve pressure on muscles, ligaments, discs, and nerves, facilitating natural healing and providing long-term resolution for elbow pain.

ABC™ consists of various manoeuvres, including spinal stretches and hands-on adjustments of the spine, ribs, and lower extremities, resulting in consistent and predictable outcomes, including postural correction. By correcting spinal alignment through ABC™, individuals experience immediate relief from elbow pain and decreased likelihood of its recurrence. This holistic healthcare system aims to improve not only symptoms but also overall body function and well-being. Improved posture through ABC™ therapy can lead to benefits such as easier breathing, clearer thinking, and a sense of balance in the body.

The nervous system serves as the communication pathway between the body and brain. It regulates and controls every action in our body, underscoring the importance of ensuring its optimal functioning for overall health. The structural system, primarily comprising the skull and spine, encloses and protects the nervous system and can directly influence its performance. If the alignment of the bones in the structural system, particularly the spine, deteriorates or becomes dysfunctional, it can have adverse effects on the nervous system.

By improving spinal alignment and posture, pressure and tension on the nervous system can be alleviated. This, in turn, enhances overall body function and reduces the likelihood of future injuries and complications.
